Hello 2025!
As we're all beginning to emerge from the festive haze of not quite knowing what day it is and eating our own body weight in cheese, some of us have started thinking about resolutions for the year ahead.
This year, I’ve decided to set some business-related resolutions to help me grow professionally:
🗣️ Shout about what I'm doing more
Anyone who knows me will know that I absolutely hate talking about myself and my achievements. As a person, this is fine, but as a business owner, this is something I really need to work on.
I've been really lucky to have worked with some fantastic clients and on projects I’m really proud of over the years. Writing about what I’m working on, tips and celebrating wins is something I’ll be focussing on in 2025 through regular LinkedIn updates and blog posts.
🤝 Expand my network
Although going freelance has been the one of the best things I’ve ever done, one thing I do miss about being in an in-house role is my colleagues. Being able to have a quick a chat about a project or natter over a coffee is something I’ve realised I’ve missed, which as a self-confessed introvert has been rather surprising.
2025 is the year I’m going to work on expanding my network and connect with more like-minded people. I've made steps towards this by joining the Being Freelance community and am booking IRL co-working dates in the diary with some of my WFH friends.
🙌 Practice what I preach
This may be the hardest one for me to stick to. I genuinely love setting up systems and processes to remove some of the stress that comes with running a business for my clients. Setting aside the time to do this for my own business…is something I’ve historically been not so good at.
I've blocked out my calendar for a set time each week to work on the back end of my business. Having that time each week earmarked will make it easier to avoid booking in meetings during this time and help me resist the siren call of client work.
If you've set any resolutions, let me know in the comments and we can keep each other accountable!
Happy New Year! 🎉
